The ENSAMBLE project: Expertise and Networking to Sustain Actions in Med through Blue and Local Economy

Engaging local communities to boost the blue economy in the Mediterranean is the main goal of the ENSAMBLE project. Coordinated by the Italian FLAG “Costa degli Etruschi” for the Tuscany Region, the project partnership involves an innovative French cooperative based in the Mediterranean (Petra Patrimonia Corsica), an Italian environmental Association (Legambiente Toscana) and a Tunisian environmental Association (WWF North Africa), with the support of the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

ENSAMBLE aims at creating a network of local fishing communities in Tunisia, France and Italy to facilitate, through a participatory approach, the elaboration of a Community-led Local Development (CLLD) strategy in fishermen communities in North Africa and to exchange best practices with Italy and France, where the CLLD model has been already developed. ENSAMBLE brings together public and private maritime actors and lays its foundations on the ground, where the challenges and needs of local fishery communities arise.
