This working document has been sent to the EESC – Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment – which formed a study group on the topic, in order to inform their talks on April 14th, 2011.
“This opinion should lead to greater interest in the LEADER programme and facilitate the structural use of Local Action Groups, including for other funding programmes outside the rural development context”
Among other things, it pleads for the application of Local Action Groups and the LEADER method in peri-urban areas, which is an idea also being put forward by DG AGRI of the EC for the next programming period.
